Check out this link to here the CBC dedication to the job exchange on June 19, 2006. It is the Delieb 'Flower Duet'. Unfortunately they thought my personal e-mail provider was involved but no worries. The music and the sentiments are enjoyable nonetheless and Katherine and Kathy had their 6 minutes of fame. Cheers everyone!

Last night on a ramble I met all manner of dogs near Swadlincote or Woodville, England. Rosie pictured here is a favourite name as is Rory, Roxy, Robbie, and Molly. Rosie was afraid of my skirt. As long as I was sitting down we were best pals but the moment I stood up barking began. Last night alone I saw a whippet, an Irish wolfhound, a bull terrier, and some kind of purebred German retriever all being walked by their masters and loved beyond belief with true dedication.

This is the mansion. Remember I am there early so everything is locked up. I felt like I was back in the 1700s or that the Brontes would come out from behind a tree. I woke up about 3 million sheep and lambs on my 'ramble'.

I thought this was the mansion. Its just the bell tower on the stables. The mansion was still to come. In order to learn how to drive and miss the traffic [actually an impossibility] my strategy is to get up REALLY early on a Saturday morning and stick to places closeby to Woodville, England and without horrendous roundabouts on the way [also impossible it turned out]. I didn't realize I couldn't retrace my steps [its one way through the 600 acres] so I ended up on a busy highway to Leister. On the way back I did find out where Conkers is so that is my next tempt of fate.

There is a valley at the bottom of the public foot path. The farms look like they have been there for 100s of years. You can see that the path is well trodden.

The gardens are so lovely and the people take such care to make them beautiful. This garden was down a small lane with a pub at one end in the small town where I live, Woodville. However this unassuming lane lead me to get lost but I had a wonderful adventure nonetheless. Even getting lost is a learning experience.

Typical laneway with midterrace townhouses on a lane in Woodville where I live in England.

I got lost on the road that lead to this house. It has a name plate that says 'The Elms'. The house has such an intriguing facade. It has the most interesting garage made out of brick that is really eccentric. I met a man out hiking who just happened to live on my street and got me back home. He told me about a lake nearby and how to get there on another public footpath. The World Cup is so important here. This house had a British flag in every window and all the cars have 3 or 4 flags hanging out of the windows.

Public Footpath close to my accomodation. Found it by accident on a ramble. There is a big farm horse I had to get chummy with but he/she is used to people so it was no trouble. There were wild foxglove and Queen Anne's Lace and a vine that looked like wild raspberry in the all the shrubs. This is the only walk I have been on that I haven't gotten lost on.

The tea was Earl Grey and the thoughful staff had a newly received DVD of travelling to England playing in the background to make me aware of my opportunities to come to explore and learn. Kathy polished off many cucumber sandwiches.

Jolly Old English Tea Party, Canadian style complete with scones, crust-less cucumber and egg salad tea sandwiches, clotted cream, short bread cookies, Scottish marmalade and wild berries, silver teaspoons and a torrential rain shower.
