Dublin - This is the martyr's wall at St. Patrick's Cathedral [below]. It celebrates Irish Republican war heroes from 1988. St. Patrick is reputedly buried at this site. The stone wall to the right is from 1240 and there is a Medieval and Viking historic area closeby. Those Vikings really got around!
The money for St. Patrick's hospital [below] was donated by Jonathan Swift in 1745.Collin's Barracks and Museum [above right] is named after another Republican war hero from the early 20th Century. It was free and contained floors and buildings of treasures. Transferware plates and platters from Irish country cottages caught my eye as did a huge studio camera from the 1800s with billows and made out of fine woods [definitely not a portable!].
